Think meditation is Just for Monks?

I recently became aware of the power of meditation and by simple meditating for 20 minutes a day can have a huge impact on your life. Even when you think about it meditation isn't the cool thing to do and that many would laugh at you for doing so. You wouldn't see a person randomly meditating on the bus or the train or outside a cafe, so why is this?
In my opinion meditation has shifted dramatically in the last few years. Many people are sceptic of meditation. People from different walks of life are adopting meditation in their everyday lives. From professional athletes, celebrity figures. People such as Russell brand, Russell Simmons and Opra winfree are pursing meditation and spreading its positivity. I don’t know about you but when watching these people talk there something about them, they look more awake and alert. Many people might see it as a waste of time. But In my opinion I believe it could potential solve some of our greatest problems as a society. For instance mental health is a growing problem and I think this could be greatly reduced if meditation was adopted especially from an early age. The importance of more research into meditation is a must.
